1] Opt out of the competition
Millions of blogs exist in the cyber world. Don’t try to be that millionth and one. Before entering the blogsphere, do brainstorming. Try to find out the gaping holes. See what others are not doing but needs to be done. People are writing somewhat similar things on the same topic. And after reading a few blogs readers go through a sense of déjà vu . Avoid belonging to the "also run" category. In short, don’t be a part of the rat race. Work very hard on your USP.
2] Create an atmosphere of trust
Be consistent and regular in your posts. In cyber world people often can’t see you in person. So it’s very hard to build trust. If you chose to disappear suddenly no one has a clue what’s going on and frankly, after a while people don’t even care. One can dispel the atmosphere of mistrust by being regular in posting and being there for their loyal readers. I know some bloggers who even update their blogs on Christmas Day!
3] Welcome your readers with open arms
Try to satiate the appetite of your regular readers by providing more and more content on your blog. Offer them RSS feeds or subscription and open up your comments section…channels of communication should always be open. Let the readers offer their comments or provide them with a form if they want to communicate with you directly.
4] Do what others can’t replicate easily and offer it to the world
It simply means don’t take the easy way out as most of us do. There is a divine comfort in treading the known path. But go for the thrills and adventures of the unknown. The reward is not easy to obtain but in the end it’s all worth it. But carve out an intelligent path while going for the unknown; avoid taking foolish risks.
5] Do Your Homework
Before taking a plunge into the cyber pool, try to obtain as much information as possible. Get acquainted with the terms like SEO, tags, meta tags, keywords, linkbait, anchor text and headlines. How you can make your blog search engine friendly and get it ranked higher? Of course you can’t do everything for your blog. But try to consult and read enough material on search engines and how they rank pages.
6] Put Your Own Stamp
When you write your blog posts try to be unique. Give a personal touch to your posts. Here people can’t see and touch you. Try to reach out to them in your own unique way. Make people empathize with you even if they don’t agree with what you are writing.
7] Carve out your niche
There is no clear-cut formula for success in the blogging world. Success is not guaranteed by following a set pattern. One has to mix ‘n match. And mixing ‘n matching is always unique for each individual. So be informed and be knowledgeable but have extra dose of entrepreneurship in you so that you can spot opportunities and don’t hesitate to give a concrete shape to your dreams.
